I never knew that it could be this simple to make Tartar Sauce! I had assumed that there was a lot more to it than just 4 ingredients. It’s so easy to make, you won’t ever have to buy it again.
Want to know what is really good to dip in the tartar sauce? Okra & Squash Fritters. I know it may sound different, but trust me, it’s delicious!
I’ve never really thought much about what was in tartar sauce until one day I went to the refrigerator and I really thought we still had some, but we were completely out. I was really wanting some to dip the Fritters in. So, I started researching and trying to figure out what tartar was made out of. I’ve never made it from scratch before and I was so surprised that it could be made with only 4 simple ingredients!
I started experimenting to see if I could make it taste even close to what I was used to. Trust me, just 4 ingredients works.
Another meal that this tartar sauce is perfect for is FRIED CATFISH and CRAPPIE! My husband and my oldest son go fishing a lot and they love to fish and bring home dinner. My son has become quite the fisherman and he will clean the fish so good that ALL the “fishy” taste is gone. They like to catch catfish and crappie AND we love to eat it! My oldest daughter created this recipe and she will make it up early, so it will be chilled before the fish is finished cooking. Also, we like to make our own hushpuppies (a recipe that I need to post!) and then we will fry up some french fries. This is all an excellent meal, plus relatively cheap, if my guys don’t spend too much money on boat gas fishing! LOL

Tell me, can it get much easier than that???
I made this batch and within 2 days it was all gone. Everyone really liked it.
All you do is add all the ingredients to a bowl, mix well and refrigerate for a couple hours before serving to let the flavors mix. Of course, I made some and ate it just as soon as I made it. But, it’s better if it sits for a little bit.
- Be sure to chill before you serve this sauce, because it is so much better chilled!
- Refrigerate only for 5 -7 days
- Sweet relish would be delicious in this sauce too!
- 1 1/2 C Mayo
- 4 TBS Dill Relish
- 1 TBS Lemon Juice
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- Add all ingredients to a bowl
- Mix well
- Cover and let sit for a couple hours before serving to let the flavors fully combine
