Turkey Cranberry Grilled Cheese Sandwich! This is an amazing sandwich! Our family has a food truck, and it was a couple weeks before Thanksgiving and we like to think of new sandwiches to sell from the food truck, so we were thinking of what could we make with turkey. Since, Thanksgiving was not far away and everyone always wants turkey around this time of year. And, what is the best Thanksgiving meals ideas – turkey, dressing and cranberry sauce. These are some of my kids favorite sides to a Thanksgiving meal.
A couple of years ago, my oldest daughter, Kylee, started making cranberry sauce. This isn’t that type from a can. She takes a bag of cranberries, which are not easy to find, except during the Holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas. So, that being said if you want cranberry sauce through out the year, you will need to freeze some cranberries, because the supermarkets don’t have them any other time of the year. So, Kylee will take a bag of cranberries, orange marmalade, lemon juice, nuts and place these in a baking dish covered with foil. After this is done, she will smash the cranberries with a potato smasher and this sauce is SOOO DELICIOUS! Here’s the recipe for our famous Cranberry Sauce. So, if you have a lot of turkey (or ham) and cranberry sauce left over from the holidays, then this is the recipe that you’ll need.

Cheese or No Cheese?
My first thought was cheese and cranberry sauce, YUCK! BUT, one day we were at the food truck and we decided to create this sandwich and so we made one without cheese and one with cheese just to try. The cheese is amazing on this sandwich! The sweet & sour cranberry sauce and the salty cheese is a must have! Just try it with the cheese and you will see!

What Bread To Choose?
We chose sourdough bread, but any type of bread will work. The supermarkets have such a variety of breads, rolls and buns, that the options are endless. We liked the sourdough bread because it is close to the yeast rolls that we bake at the holidays, however you can be creative and try, maybe, a hawaiian bread which would be delicious!

- Brioche
- Focaccia
- Ciabatta
- Rye Bread

Party Appetizer Ideas!
A great idea would be to make these turkey cranberry grilled cheese sandwiches into mini appetizers called sliders. I would purchase some hawaiian rolls or any small dinner rolls, then add the turkey or ham, cheese and then bake in the oven to melt the cheese. But, before baking, spread a little melted butter that has been sprinkled with a little garlic powder, onto the rolls! YUMMO!
