While on the keto/low carb diet I have found that I missed regular carb bread. So, I began the search for different types of Keto bread substitutes with no net carbs or a very low net carb count.
I live in a fairly small town, so my options have been limited. The closest Aldi supermarket is approximately 30 miles away. Of course, ordering online is always convenient, but sometimes just running to my local supermarket is too easy. So, If I find a bread that has a few net carbs, but has nothing like the net carb count in regular breads I feel like I’m making head way. ALSO, scroll down to find recipes made with keto bread substitutes.
What is the Keto Diet?
The ketogenic diet focuses on high fat, low carb foods like eggs, meats, dairy, and low carb vegetables. Also, it consists of food that are sugar free and gluten free. A lot of individuals believe it is just a lot of protein, like a lot of bacon, but it is more than just eating a lot of bacon. It is limiting carb consumption to around 20 to 50 grams per day and filling up on fats, such as meat, fish, eggs, nuts, and healthy oils.

1. Aldi’s Keto Friendly Bread
The first bread that I have chosen for this post comes from Aldi. This bread has zero carbs and Aldi’s carries a couple different types of keto friendly breads. Plus, Aldi’s has low carb tortillas that do have 4 net carbs per tortilla, but to me this is better than a regular 24 net carb tortilla. š
2. Thin Slim Foods Bagels
My second choice of bread substitutes is Thin Slim Foods bagels. The company Thin Slim Foods has so many zero net carb options! Which for keto dieters this is AMAZING! My local supermarkets do not carry all these options, but larger supermarkets do, plus they can be ordered online.
Here are a few zero net carb options from Thin Slim Foods:
- Plain bread
- Honey bread
- Rye bread
- Pizza crust
- Cinnamon bagels
- Olive and garlic rolls
- Hamburger buns
- Hot dog buns
- too many desserts option to mention!
3. Keto Culture Baking Hamburger Buns
4. Thin Slim Foods Pizza Crust
5. Mr. Tortilla
6. Egglife Egg White Wraps
Egglife egg white wraps come in a variety of flavors:
- Original
- Southwest style
- Everything bagel
- Sweet cinnamon
**MY top 2 keto bread substitutes BUT they do have a FEW carbs!
This Braum’s carb watch bread is AMAZING! It has 3.5 net carbs per slice and is a very soft bread. I cannot tell that it is a low carb bread. If you have a Braum’s in your neighborhood be sure to try it!
My next favorite bread substitute for a tortilla are these La Banderita carb counters. They are thin and fry up perfect! I love making crunch wraps and taquitos with these carb lean tortillas!
