Crockpot Taco Soup

As a stay at home mom I love easy meals that I can toss simple ingredients into a crockpot and let it cook. For some reason the “What’s for Dinner?” question is a never ending question. I sometimes wonder if that question will always be the hardest decision of the day, lol. “Crockpot Taco Soup”

This is a simple recipe that has easy to find ingredients that are at your local supermarket. And, any off brands will work perfectly too.

  • browned ground beef – or any kind of browned ground meat, for example: chicken, turkey, sausage or venison
  • chopped onion – any kind of onion will work, yellow, white or red
  • tomato sauce – you can also add crushed or diced tomatoes instead of tomato sauce
  • chili beans – any kind of bean will work: chili beans, black beans or pinto beans
  • corn – canned corn or frozen corn
  • taco seasoning
  • Ranch salad dressing mix – this can be optional and left out
  • water

What kind of meat is in taco soup?

  • ground beef
  • ground turkey
  • ground chicken
  • ground sausage
  • ground venison

What toppings can I add to my taco soup?

  • shredded cheese
  • tortilla chips
  • jalapeno peppers
  • sour cream
  • black olives
  • salsa
  • guacamole

Another great idea is to eat this soup with cornbread muffins or saltine crackers. YUM!

How do I make taco soup? (scroll down for the full printable recipe card)

  1. Place a skillet over medium high heat
  2. Add ground meat and cook until done
  3. Drain any excess grease off of the meat
  4. Chop up the onion
  5. Add the browned meat, onion, tomato sauce, chili beans, corn, water, taco seasoning and Ranch seasoning to your crockpot
  6. Cook on low for 5-6 hours or on high 3-4 hours
  7. Serve with shredded cheese and tortilla chips or any toppings that you like

How do I store leftover taco soup?

Simply, add your cooled leftover taco soup to an airtight container and place into the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Or, you can freeze the soup for up to 3 months.

  • 1 lb browned ground beef
  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 1 can (29 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 cans chili beans (undrained)
  • 1 can whole kernel corn (drained)
  • 1 packet of taco seasoning
  • 1 tbsp Ranch salad dressing mix
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Place a skillet over medium high heat
  2. Add ground meat and cook until done
  3. Drain any excess grease off of the meat
  4. Chop up the onion
  5. Add the browned meat, onion, tomato sauce, chili beans, corn, water, taco seasoning and Ranch seasoning to your crockpot
