- ground beef – ground chicken or ground turkey can also be used in this recipe
- onion – any kind of onion will in this recipe
- hamburger buns
- olive oil
- optional – condiments, hamburger toppings; sliced cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, avocado, mushrooms or french fried onions

How do I make Easy Smashed Burgers? (scroll down for the full printable recipe card)
- Place a skillet over medium high heat
- Add a little oil to the pan
- Slice up the onion
- Place 1/8 – 1/4 cup of sliced onion into the pan into separate flat stacks
- Place a flatten hamburger patty on top of each stack of onions
- Cook until the onions are turning brown and flip the burger (lightly pressing the hamburger patty flat with a spatula)
- Cook until the burger is done
- Once the burger is done place it onto some paper towels to absorb the excess grease
- Add to a toasted hamburger bun
- Add condiments and toppings
- Enjoy

- 2.5 lbs ground beef
- 3 medium onions
- Hamburger buns
- Condiments
