Brown Sugar Bean and Beef Cornbread Casserole

If you need an EASY and CHEAP meal to prepare for your family this is it! All the ingredients are simple and you more than likely you will have them all in stock in your kitchen. So, give my Brown Sugar Bean and Beef Cornbread Casserole meal a try!

My kids loved this easy casserole, but this meal had my kids coming back for seconds and thirds, LOL! It may have been the brown sugar beans, but whatever it takes for my kids to LOVE my meals then I’m all for it!

  • ground beef – ground turkey, ground chicken or ground sausage
  • brown sugar hickory baked beans – any brand or flavor of baked beans or pork-n-beans will work
  • shredded cheese – any kind of shredded cheese will work
  • cornbread mix – any kind of cornbread mix will work, yellow or white
  • real bacon bits – or cook some bacon and chop it up
  • jalapeno peppers and jalapeno juice – this is optional and can be left out
  • garlic butter – store bought or make your own garlic butter, click here for recipe.

How do I make a Brown Sugar Bean and Beef Cornbread Casserole? (scroll down for the full printable recipe card)

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees f or what temperature is on your cornbread package.
  2. Place a large skillet over medium high heat
  3. Add your ground meat
  4. Once the ground meat is brown and done pour off any excess grease
  5. Add the baked beans to the ground meat and stir
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the beef and bean mixture
  7. Prepare the package cornbread mix and add the bacon bits, chopped jalapeno peppers and the jalapeno juice. Mix well
  8. Pour the cornbread mixture over the beef and beans
  9. Bake per cornbread directions
  10. Once cornbread is done, add the garlic butter to the top of the cornbread.
  11. Serve and enjoy with your favorite side dish

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 can (28oz) Bush's Brown Sugar Hickory Baked Beans
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 cornbread mix (egg and milk)
  • 1 cup real bacon bits
  • 2 Tbsp chopped jalapeno peppers
  • 1 Tbsp jalapeno juice
  • garlic butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees f or what temperature is on your cornbread package.

How do I store leftovers?

Simply, add your cooled leftovers to an airtight container and place into the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Or, you can freeze the casserole for up to 3 months. Also, this is the perfect meal to prepare for lunches, simple place individual servings into meal prep containers and reheat at lunch time.
